Kumogakure no Sato - The Troubled Past

Daichu Kumogakure [1st Raikage]
Unubra Raikou [2nd Raikage]
Riku Hougaku [3rd Raikage]

Quote :
Daichu Kumogakure was only 12 years old when the mercenaries of the Earth Country abducted him. The mercenaries were lead by a strange man who was obviously crazy, as he wanted to create the perfect shinobi out of the boy. The Mercenaries trained him hard and purposefully for 3 years, creating a strong and dedicated ninja who obeyed every command, or so it seemed. That was, until he overpowered the mercenaries, murdered them, and fled. He travelled for several days, obviously confused and dazed by the events which had occurred only a few days prior. He travelled north-east from the Earth Country and stumbled upon a small and growing village. The village was named Ryuuki, after the leader and successor of the village. It was age-old tradition that the Village's name was that of the strongest citizen or warrior. The Village accepted the young boy with open arms and high expectations, constantly urging him to usurp the Leader. With the power, techniques and confidence that Daichu obtained through the Mercenaries; he was able to patiently wait until Ryuuki built the majestic and ancient village. Daichu had goals himself of becoming the leader of this village, so he could rule over the land for himself. After Ryuuki had achieved his ultimate goal, Daichu usurped the village leader and established his rule. He changed the Village name to Kumogakure after his last name and demolished the previous rules and laws that were in place. He then denied any hope and attempt of usurping himself and concreted his rule, erecting statues of himself in his favour. Through the confinements and secrecy of the village walls, Daichu established a Totalitarian rule for all to obey.

It was during this time that the 5 great Shinobi Villages agreed to confer and establish themselves in the world of shinobi. Daichu was acknowledged as one of the 5 Kages and was elected Raikage of Kumogakure no Sato. Daichu returned to Kumogakure no Sato and continued his totalitarian rule, exploiting the power that Kumo had attained. With the new economy activity which Kumo now had access to Daichu used to this wealth to create wondrous architecture. Kumogakure was developed into a beautiful village as Daichu became more and more religious as he grew older. He thought that by creating large, extravagant temples, buildings and statues he could impress the gods and win over their favour. So for many decades Kumogakure was carved out of the mountains that surrounded it and the beautiful architecture that it is renowned for today was born. This power, wealth and fame that Daichu possessed enabled him to obtain mistresses. As a result of his raunchy affairs, Daichu's mistresses bore him a child for which he neglected and forced her to raise. After a very long rule, Daichu was 85 years of age when news that his child that he had neglected, had bore a child of themselves, therefore making the 2nd generation child his grandson. Daichu favoured this circumstance greatly, training, teaching and honing his grandson's skills. Daichu's grandson, Unubra Raikou looked up to his grandfather with enormous ambitions, hoping for one day to become Raikage. It was when Unubra was the age of 16 was his dreams and wishes granted, with his grandfather dying. This resulted in Unubra being elected as the 2nd Raikage, in his grandfather's will. However it wasn't until several months into his rule that Unubra discovered the reason for how his Grandfather died.

During the early stages of the morning, a cell of 3 Earth Country Special Force's ninja infiltrated the totalitarian dictator's home and assassinated the elderly kage. The 3 shinobi fled the village with ease and returned back to the safety of the village walls. Unubra revealed this when by accident; he heard news from merchant travellers of this story. Unubra was furious, and he sort to understand more of his great grandfather’s history. He searched the remains of the great mans belongings to find a scroll which the man had kept as a journal. Unubra scanned through the journal understanding how his grandfather came to be the man he was. He learns of the Earth Country mercenaries taking Daichu when he was young. With rage in his blood, he resorted to his teenage instinct of declaring war against the Rock Village. Unubra launched countless attacks against the Rock Village, however to no avail. The Earth Countries large military presence dominated the young shinobi forces and he had to retreat. But the young Raikage was more intelligent than they thought, as he was his grandfathers student, deceit ran through his veins. He knew that a full on assault against the village would not work so he decided to invest in a organisation of talented ninja, a group of specially trained shinobi that would be able to cripple an empire from the inside out. He named this division the Guardian Force Division: Flash Operations and he trained the ninja himself.

The original group of ninja were dispatched one cold and dark night. The thunder and lightning storms that ripped across the country were giving this special group of ninja the perfect cover to leave the village undetected, under the Raikages orders. They would travel to the Earth Country to launch a silent attack, under the code name "Red Storm". The select group of ninja would infiltrate the village from the inside and destroy it from the centre. A week after the initial launch the Raikage heard news of hysteria and panic coming from the Rock Village. The plan had been successful. The Cloud Shinobi had infiltrated the village and silently set explosives to the main buildings and monuments of the village, timing them all to go off at the same time. A massive explosion filled the Rock Village early on that fateful morning, leaving many dead but even more destroyed. The Cloud shinobi were not going to come back to the village, they were taught to, after this mission get rid of any evidence that they were there and this meant getting rid of their own existence. Unubra's plan had worked he was now crazy with power. He felt that no one could stop him, and with the Rock Village not having the slightest clue as to what happened they could not blame Kumogakure at all, though they did have their suspicions.

Since that fateful attack small skirmishes and battles between the two nations brought suffering and pain to many people and their families. The Rock Village blamed Kumogakure for he attack, although they had no proof. Unubra, now decided to have a meeting with the Tsuchikage to sort out a peace deal with the village. He despised this action but knew that his forces would not be able to hold off the Rock Village's for long. So he and his counter-part signed a deal to cease all conflict between the two villages for short, regulated period of time. Unubra into fear of death and humiliation and as a result ended the war between the villages. With this defeated Unubra became slightly crazy and OCD about protection of the village. He fortified all positions and stopped any possible way of citizens or shinobi leaving his village. Unubra cowered in fear within his village, being scared of the outside world; but controlling the inside. He announced propaganda to his citizens, feeding them with reassurance that Kumogakure no Sato was still the greatest village. After constantly hearing word of how great and fruitful the village was, several shinobi fled the tight security and discovered about the 'real world', outside the village. The shinobi returned back to the Cloud Village and with complete secrecy from the elderly Unubra, revealed the totalitarian ways and flaws that he was creating. This caused the village shinobi to uproar and whilst taking advantage of the elderly man's afternoon nap, murdered him in his sleep.

The rampaging, angry crowd of citizens and shinobi swept through the village torching and destroying everything in their path. The sheer anger and frustration of the people had finally burst and now the village was the one to bare the brunt of the hostility. The village was soon in ruins, and if the word of this got out to surrounding villages or terrorist cells the village would surely be in further damage. The propaganda that had shrouded the village actually came in handy in the situation and Kumogakure was able to protect the knowledge of this ever happening through a complete lock down of the village. With the leader of the Village Hidden in the Clouds dead, the Kumo Shinobi Council took over in the confusing times to restore balance and leadership to the village. It was clear that the village needed guidance and the current style of leadership was not favoured by shinobi and citizens alike. So it was decided that a new style of democracy would be introduced, Kumogakure would turn over a new leaf as it is and restore balance to this once proud nation. Many names were thrown around the council but one clearly stood out, and her name was Riku Hougaku.

She was from a respectful clan, one that had pull and influence on the council members. She was a "neutral" jounin at the time of the uprising who only believed in her country. She had trained and been apart of the prestigious "Flash Force" and she was considered one of the best most senior jounins in the village. She showed much promise and dedication to the nation, organizing shelter, protection and restoration to the many that were affected. She was respected by all, and when the vote came to session it was unanimous that she would obtain the position. She would not rule with an Iron Fist like previous rulers, she favoured a more open and democratic style of leadership, one that brought her much favour with the country and citizens alike. With her presence at the helm, the country began to unite and stronger than it was before, they listened to her every word and never challenged her judgement. After the chaos that had run through the village it was time to restore and rebuild. Many of the great buildings in the village were damaged, but not destroyed so Riku restored the culture and architecture that once was in Kumogakure. Thankfully the ancient Temples were not harmed in the uprising and they now stand as a reminder of the chaotic past of the village.

Once the village had reunited again the clean-up process had begun. Though in the chaos some of the temples had been ransacked by looters and thieves, a junior shinobi squad had uncovered a marvellous and mysterious item. After the damage that had occurred, a secret tunnel was uncovered in the main temple in a corner exit area. It was hidden by a statue that was now overturned, and lay on its side. This small tunnel lead to a room which was filled with ancient relics and items that would be worth more than the village currently was. The items were dated back to the foundations of Kumogakure when it was known as Ryuuki. There were ancient scrolls and artefacts’ that were used by the original shinobi of the ninja world. These items dated back to when "The Beast" was once prevalent and domineering in the ninja world. Kumogakure Researchers spent months in this room deciphering the ancient languages on the scrolls and artefacts’. One day the Raikage was called into the temple immediately, as it was now cornered off and only select personal were allowed in. The Kumo Researchers uncovered a scroll which foretold the end of the world as we know it. Sections of the scroll were badly damaged but parts of it were good enough for the researchers to read and decipher, part of the message went as follows;

"The day will come when the great beast will rain down from the sky apon the world again. It will be the end for the future...No one will survive in it's presence....The one man tried but he could not prevent what may come...A warning for the future...A power unimaginable...When the time comes the power bestowed...ancient relic from the man...seal the great beast and end the pain and suffering."

The message which was attached to an ancient scroll was damaged that only sections where able to be made-out. As the researchers contemplated it's meaning, Riku looked over the ancient item which it was inscribed on. In a long, golden pipe with delicate markings etched into the sides was a thick scroll made out of an unknown black paper. On this scroll was a seal that Riku, or the Researchers hadn't seen before as it was so intricate and complicated. This parchment was what the message was trying to detail; this was the "Ancient Relic" which had the power to seal the "Beast". Many had heard the stories of the "Great Beast" that nearly destroyed the world as we know it, but many just believe that it was a fable, myth told by the ancestors to scare small children. But many believe that it was true, and evidence since that time had been found scattered around the world, but nothing like what has been found in this temple. Riku wanted to tread carefully on this situation. She didn't want to cause panic in a time where Kumogakure was just getting back on its feet. Once the room had been excavated, Riku ordered the special shinobi to lock the parchment in the room once again. Kumogakure's specialist ninja placed many trap and lock fuuinjutsu seals on the hidden room so it would not be able to be opened by anything but the chakra from the Raikage herself. She then ordered cursed seals to be placed on the tongues of everyone who knew of the rooms where abouts in the temple. If they ever talked about the location, they would be permanently paralyzed and unable to talk.

Two years have passed since the discovery of the hidden room in the temple. Keeping the ancient prophecies foretold on that haunting message in the back of her mind, Riku once again brought peace and stability back into the village. She introduced the love of arts, music and culture back into the village and the wondrous architecture that once brought many far and wide to see. The temples and buildings were all made of magnificent stone carved from the mountain sides which surround the village. Her love for the village runs as deep as the many rivers that flow from the mountains around it. She had brought Kumogakure into a new age, one which allowed members of the village to an open, democratic, fair system for all to enjoy. Though, she was not ignorant or naive of the past. She knew that Kumogakure had made many enemies and was in no way desperate to rekindle an alliance with foreign lands. But Kumogakure was now open to anything; anything was possible for the village. The village now possessing a strong shinobi military and large economic growth Riku would not allow anything to undo the work that she had put into the village to restore it's glorious name. She was now determined more than ever to destroy anything that would come in the way of Kumogakure no Sato, the present.
